Rosarita is slag glass - it is a byproduct produced in old-time gold smelting, and some lapidary artists will cut it into beautiful, colorful cabochons, like this one. This is a really rare find, a piece this big and stunning!
I set this Rosarita cabochon in a bezel of fine silver, with a backplate of sterling silver, and hand-hammered sterling accents created in shot plates. The little peeking skull is a sterling silver casting. The whole pendant was oxidized and tumbled in a special media called "Hone and Highlight.' The back of the pendant features a sawn-out winter tree, with a half moon shining above! This pendant hangs from soft brown deerskin leather lace.
The leather lace measures 19" and has an additional 2 1/2" extension chain. If you have any aversion to leather, I can put this on a chain for you!
